Does Capture work offline and stay private?
Your library is stored locally on your device and semantic search runs on-device, so your saves are never uploaded to us and there's no Capture account to create. A few things do use the network: saving a link fetches that page to build its preview and reader view, turning on semantic search downloads the model once, and the app sends anonymous usage analytics. Everything you've already saved stays searchable with no connection at all.
How does search work?
Capture combines full-text search with a natural-language query parser that turns phrases like “pdfs from twitter last week” into filters, plus on-device semantic search that finds items by meaning even when you don't remember the exact words.
Does semantic search work on every phone?
Semantic search downloads a ~220MB model and runs it locally, using up to ~1GB of RAM while it's on — so it works best on recent phones with memory to spare, and on older or low-memory devices it can cause slowdowns. Keyword and natural-language search work everywhere — semantic search is an optional extra you turn on when your device can handle it.
Can I move my data in and out?
Yes. Import your browser bookmarks from Safari, Chrome, or Firefox, and export to JSON, HTML, Markdown, or CSV whenever you like. Import and export are always free and never paywalled.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
There's no Capture account, ever. The free plan holds up to 100 items with full keyword and natural-language search. Premium unlocks an unlimited library, on-device semantic search, and sync through your own iCloud or Google Drive — signing in to Google Drive on Android uses your Google account, not a Capture one.
